IGIAT has been set up in Visakhapatnam as a partnership project of Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Govt. of Germany and Gayatri Vidya Parishad (A reputed educational trust in Visakhapatnam). The main objective of the institute is to act like a finishing school and to provide training in advanced technologies to the students of various educational institutes, job seekers and industrial personnel with a special focus on the disadvantaged groups of the Society.

IGIAT emphasizes on competence development and has introduced ‘Competency Based Training’ (CBT) where the participants are awarded Certificates of Competence in various fields. Budding Engineers and Technicians are being exposed to industry class equipment and are made ready to take up industry assignments at the end of the course.

Many industries in and around Andhra Pradesh have deputed their engineers for training. IGIAT is also taking up doing job-works from the industry in the areas of Welding, CNC machining, CAD/CAM services, surveying with Total Station, GIS applications and providing consultancy services in related areas.

IGIAT has been identified by many organizations as nodal agency for executing their programs for reaching out to the under-privileged sections of the society. Among the few sponsors are :

Many Private Engineering colleges across India from Ghaziabad to Raipur in addition to Andhra Pradesh, have reposed confidence in IGIAT and have availed services training programs in their premises for the benefit of their students and some have even entered into MoU with us for long term association as Extension-Centers of IGIAT.
